It also includes a new stand-alone 8,500 SF Fire Training Station for vehicles, simulators, equipment and space to conduct physical fitness testing. There is also a 1,800 SF vehicle storage building at the Urban Search and Rescue Annex. The facility is located on the LADD Campus in Exeter.
The Rhode Island State Fire Training Academy serves the training needs of Rhode Island’s 6,000 firefighters. It provides basic and advanced training in various disciplines for career firefighters from all municipalities. It provides all communities within the State the opportunity to have access to a national accredited training program where a national recognized certification can be obtained. Since completion of two previous phases, the Fire Training Academy has experienced extreme growth in the number of programs offered, use of the facility and an increase in the volume of training equipment required to support the attendees. This phase of work will serve the continued growth of the Fire Training Academy.
