State House Exterior Lighting Project

Overview:

The Rhode Island State House, located on the Capitol Hill Campus in Providence, was built 1895-1904. As a beacon for the state, DCAMM’s challenge is the preservation of this historical landmark any time renovations or improvements are made. One such challenge is the RI State House Exterior Lighting Project. Throughout the year, DCAMM receives requests to light the exterior of the State House for holidays and other special events. The original manual lighting system has deteriorated and is obsolete and unsafe. The challenge to install a modern and efficient system will be accomplished using a combination of innovation and new technology.

Capitalizing on utility incentives and energy savings, DCAMM is installing a computer controlled exterior lighting system with energy efficient LED luminaires. This advanced system with its computerized control module offers flexible lighting scenes with each LED fixture producing millions of different colors. The project received $25K in National Grid rebates.
