Johannes Virks Renovation

Overview:

The Dr. Johannes Virks Building is located on the Pastore Center Campus in Cranston, RI. Built in 1936, the building is undergoing a complete interior and exterior renovation. After 78 years of continuous use as a hospital, it is now being restored, modernized and converted to office space for use by the State’s Department of Executive Offices of Health and Human Services.

Interior renovations to the four story, 80,500 square foot structure include new mechanical systems, installation of an energy monitoring system and new interior finishes while exterior renovations include a new slate roof, energy efficient windows and historically accurate repairs to the front Corinthian portico semicircular entry stairway.

Central Utility Building (CUB) installed outside to house HVAC equipment. Along with upgrades to building electrical systems to accommodate new equipment and the Installation of new HVAC and fan coil units.
