Capitol Hill Solar Array Project

Overview:

The State’s Office of Energy Resources, in cooperation with DCAMM’s Planning, Design & Construction Team, is leading the way in meeting the State of Rhode Island’s Green Energy Initiative. This collaborative effort has brought these two State Agencies together to fund and install photovoltaic solar arrays on the rooftops of three state office buildings including the Powers Building (DOA), Cannon Building (DOH) and the DOT Building located on the Capitol Hill Campus in Providence, RI.

This energy project enabled us to maximize available rooftop space to increase the energy efficiency of state government buildings. The increase total capacity is 288KW DC yielding a projected $61,000 in energy savings annually and upgrades to building electrical systems to accommodate new equipment.
